Mbappe is considered the successor to football “giants” Ronaldo and Messi. Ronaldo and Mbappe’s image signifies two generations of players and two icons. Ronaldo is approaching the end of his career, whereas Mbappe is just getting started and will likely replace him.
Mbappe had previously met his idol Ronaldo in the UEFA Nations League 2020 when France confronted Portugal. Mbappe publicly proclaimed his admiration for Ronaldo after the game by posting a picture of the two on the field and alluding to CR7 as his “idol.” He even praised Ronaldo with emoticons of a crown and a goat (Greatest of All Time).
